Most side hustle content on the internet is written for Americans, by marketers, to sell you something. It quotes US dollar figures, US tax rules and US platforms — and it has a habit of treating someone's best month as a typical one.

SideHustle.com.au exists to be the opposite: a factual, Australian resource for people who want to earn on the side and want straight answers first. What can I realistically earn? Do I need an ABN? What will the ATO expect from me? Do I need to tell Centrelink? What insurance or licences apply?

Who runs it

The site is run by Adam Hackney, based in regional Victoria. It's independent — not owned by a bank, a platform or a course seller.

What we will and won't do

We publish general information, always linked to official sources like the ATO and Services Australia. We won't give personal tax or financial advice, we won't publish income claims we can't support, and if a side hustle is a bad deal for most people, we'll say so.
